Oprah Back to Play Santa

After one-year hiatus, 'Oprah’s Favorite Things' returns and is bigger than ever.

Since 2002, Oprah has brought viewers a winter staple as sure as snow with her list of favorite things. Who doesn't want to tune in and watch the once-reigning TV queen play Santa? Her audience goes notoriously ape while stay-at-home parents scramble to Christmas Tree Shops to find knockoff bargains. "Happy Holidays" just doesn't have the same winter-crisp ring to it without the follow-up of Oprah's "It's my favorite thiiiiiiiiiiings! HO HO HOOOO!"

Equally criticized for flaunting luxury commercialism and loved for, well, gifting tons of free stuff, Oprah is back again to breathe some over-the-top life into a season already chockfull of consumerist glitz. Moan all you want, but there is something undeniably fabulous about it all.

After taking a year off while finding footing at OWN, 2012's "Oprah's Favorite Things" is set to premiere as a two-hour event on Sunday, Nov. 18. This year's lucky recipients are predetermined military spouses, but now you, too, can take home the goods. For the first time ever, "Oprah's Favorite Things" will have an at-home texting competition. At least you'll have a couch to cushion the blow after overexcitedly passing out. Sadly, past audience members have not been so fortunate.

You can find the list of 49 favorites here. My personal favorites are the Glam Studded High Tops by Michael Kors, the Marine Spa Gift Set, and the Casa Dragones Sipping Tequila. The most outrageous? Truffle overload by way of six truffle-flavored treats, including truffle butter, truffle sausage, truffle risotto, truffle pasta, truffle breadsticks, and truffle goat cheese.

What are some of your favorite things?
