While we wait for Skyfall, the latest movie in the James Bond franchise, to hit theaters November 9, it turns out the market in 007 memorabilia hasn't hit rock bottom. According to sources, the swimming trunks Daniel Craig wore as Bond in Casino Royale sold for close to $72K at a charity auction in London.
Oh, and the fact that Judi Dench made a cheeky comment about the cleanliness of the shorts when she introduced the suit at auction may have helped. "All I'm going to tell you is, they're unwashed," Dench reportedly said.
Those not lucky enough to get Craig's musty swimgear could have picked up a slew of other props and objects, including an Aston Martin DBS that Craig drove in Quantum of Solace, which went for $390,000, and a copy of the orchestral score to Adele's theme song for Skyfall, which she signed along with co-writer Paul Epworth sold for $22,000. Altogether, 50 pieces of James Bond memorabilia sold at Christie's on October 5 in London, marking the 50th anniversary of the first Bond movie, Dr. No. Watch the trailer for Skyfall below.
