WATCH: Wanda Sykes On Why the GOP Hates Her

Wanda-sykes-rotator

Barney Frank, Thomas Roberts, and Hilary Rosen joined the comedian

Comedian Wanda Sykes taped her election special, "NewNowNext Vote with Wanda Sykes," on Friday, September 7, in front of a live studio audience--and she didn't pull any punches. "I'm a black, gay woman," Sykes told the Republicans present, "I think the only way to make the GOP hate me more is if I sent them a video of me rolling around on a pile of welfare checks."

According to a press release, the special aims "to educate, activate and entertain viewers while shining a spotlight on the state of national politics through an LGBT lens."

Although we only have a short clip of the opening line, Sykes's guests included Congressman Barney Frank (No. 21 on Out's Power List), MSNBC news anchor Thomas Roberts (who's set to be married this fall), and Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen (No. 62 on Out's Power List), and they debated topics ranging from the economy, healthcare, education, women's rights, job protection, to, naturally, gay marriage.

The first of two one-hour programs will air on Logo Monday at 10 p.m.
