The actor-producer has partnered with director Matthew Mishory to create a movie about gay actors in Hollywood

The Advocate reports that actor-activist James Duke Mason (a 2011 Out100 recipient) will team with director Matthew Mishory for Disappear Here, a thriller set, according to its Kickstarater page, in "the parallel shadow worlds of Hollywood and high-stake national politics."

"Not only will this film be exciting and captivating to watch, but it will also send a strong political and social statement about the country we live in," Mason tells The Advocate. "It's a neo-noir thriller that has a powerful message for our society, and I think that's what makes it unique."

Mishory is the director of the acclaimed film Joshua Tree 1951: A Portrait of James Dean, which gets into some of Dean's secret gay past. Oh, and don't forget that Mason is the son of Belinda Carlisle! They want to raise $25,000 for the project. Couldn't Belinda help out? Well, Kickstarter, as we know, is more about building an audience than just getting the money, honey.

Check out the film's Kickstarter campaign here. Watch Mason and Mishory discuss Disappear Here below.
