For years we've heard the rumors and speculation about the romance and sexual liasons between David Bowie and Mick Jagger (it was even the thinly veiled prime plot point in Todd Haynes' ode to glam rock, Velvet Goldmine). Now, in a new book, titled Mick: The Wild Life and Mad Genius of Jagger, author Christopher Anderson claims that all those rumors are true.
In the book, Anderson reportedly confirms speculation that Angie Bowie caught her husband lying naked in bed with Jagger. She served them orange juice and coffee in bed after the revealing encounter. And the Bowies' maid reportedly told Angie, who had been out of town for a few days, "Someone is in your bed." When Angie opened the door, she saw Mick and David sleeping in their birthday suits.
According to Anderson, Angie "felt absolutely dead certain that they'd been screwing. It was so obvious."
And the Daily Mail writes that Ava Cherry, who lived with the Bowies, "reportedly told a friend that 'Mick and David were really sexually obsessed with each other'" and that "[e]ven though I was in bed with them many times, I ended up just watching them have sex."
This is one of the tidbits that's also included in Judy McGuire's recent book, The Official Book of Sex, Drugs, and Rock 'n' Roll Lists, along with many other salacious facts and rumors about other gay, bi-, and "trysexual" rockers.
Neither Bowie or Jagger have ever confirmed the rumors.
