Fans of Joe Manganiello Real Winners at MTV Movie Awards
By Diego James
There's always something a little crazy and unexpected gonna happen at an MTV awards event. That's the reason why they still get broadcast every year! Last night, the MTV Movie Awards was hosted by wildcard comedian and actor Russel Brand, and it included him making reference to his recent divorce to ex-wife Katy Perry. "The last time I did an MTV awards show, I did end up marrying someone that was there. So tonight I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for my next wife!"
It also included many a reference to the size of Michael Fassbender's schlong as it was featured in Shame. Sadly, there was no category to give an award for his impressive member. But it was Elizabeth Banks receiving the award for her transformation into Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games that really got everyone hot and bothered.
Presenting the award were Magic Mike costars Channing Tatum and Matthew McConnaughey, but they were joined by surprise, shirtless announcer Joe Manganiello (who actually never said a word) in a fireman getup, who kept stroking his axe (an actual axe prop, this is NOT a metaphor) over and over again. Then Tatum kinda dry-humped Banks and Manganiello put the Golden Popcorn award in his groin and kinda poked Banks with it from behind. Well, then!
"I just want to thank MTV for this moment right here. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, MTV," Banks said. "This is just the best moment of my life." Banks went on to thank director Gary Ross, her "transformation team" — Ve Neill, Linda Flowers and Judianna Makovsky — and her husband. "[He] comes with me everywhere and is really upset right now, probably." I don't know, he sort of looked like he enjoyed it when the cameras panned to him squirming in his seat.
She beat out Rooney Mara for her role in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Somehow we think that would have been a VERY different scenario had she won.
Watch the clip of Banks accepting her award (with Channing Tatum grinding and Manganiello putting his popcorn where it counts) below:
