An all-star cast brings the hit Broadway musical to the big screen.

One could almost feel the collective eye-roll from the gay community when it was announced that the lavish musical Les Miserables was being adapted into a film. Then the film's cast was announced--Hugh Jackman as bread thief with a heart of gold Jean Valjean, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, and Russell Crow as Javert--and theater queens heatedly debated the possible outcome. And let's not even get started on casting Samantha Banks, a relative unknown, as Eponine, who's tasked with singing the "On My Own," while every musical theater actress nitpicks it to death. You know that somewhere in the world Leah Michele is sobbing into her pillow with a half-eaten package of Oreos within reach. However, the trailer, set to Hathaway's version of "I Dreamed a Dream" (good, but no one can touch Patti) actually looks promising. Perhaps film will be the perfect medium to fully realize the Victor Hugo's epic tale of a prisoner on the run, and all the crazy dramatics therein. Plus, Eddie Redmayne is on board as Marius, and there's just something about his mousy little face that makes us swoon. Check it out, below.
