We never miss a moment to report on our pal Daniel Radcliffe. Whether he's stripping down to mount men portraying horses (Equus), hanging with his trans pals (Our Lady J), or discussing personal grooming, we want to hear what the young actor has to say--because it's usually quite titillating. Now that his film, The Woman in Black is available on DVD, Radcliffe talked with The Advocate about a slew of things, including his much-anticipated portrayal of gay literary icon Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings.
If you liked The Others or The Orphanage, both suspenseful ghost stories, then you'll probably want to queue up The Woman in Black since, as Radcliffe states, "With a film like this, it taps into things we have evolved to fear: darkness, noises we can't identify the source of, those things that really scare us in real life. It all adds up to make a really effective, very scary film, I think. It also touches on family, loss, grief, and things you might not normally associate with a horror film."
Radcliffe continues his enthusiasm with the Beat film, saying, Ginsberg's "certainly the one you'd be most comfortable spending time around, I think. When you watch footage of him and William Burroughs together and see how much they care about each other and how close they were and the love between all those guys and the incredible sadness that brought them all together that they were all carrying in some degree. It's great."
Plus, Radcliffe didn't miss a beat when discussing his involvement with the Trevor Project and his support for marriage equality and gay rights. "I find it incredibly frustrating that people are still being brought up in ways that encourage homophobia and allow it to affect the lives of millions of people across the country and the world."
