Chloe Sevigny Apologizes For Trans Slur

Why did she say it? 'Nobody had ever told me'

Chloe Sevigny might be played a transgender assassin in the upcoming miniseries Hit and Miss, but no matter how great her performance might be, there's one line she needs to unlearn.

"I got reamed out by The Advocate the other day for saying 'tranny,'" the actress told the Huffington Post. "I guess I referred to her as a 'tranny' a couple of times and apparently, that's a no-no in the community. I felt really bad! Nobody had ever told me. Did you know that?"

Indeed, in an interview Sevigny gave to BlackBook, she said, "I'm playing a pre-op male-to-female tranny assassin. It's very realistic. It's being created by a lot of the people who were involved in the original Skins, so it's going to be very edgy."

The actress, who also starred in Boys Don't Cry, has never struck us uncaring--only, perhaps, a bit aloof--and did indeed apologize for her comments. Still, the reaction for her slip-up seems to have garnered a more severe response than she expected.

"Reee-donkulous," she told the website. "You can't say anything anymore."
