OK, it's no secret that I'm in love with girls... I mean, Girls, HBO's new Lena Dunham spectacular chronicling the humiliation of pretending to be an adult in New York City. (And I'm not the only one obsessed with it.)
It's also no secret that Girls came into being due to one very prominent comedic patron of the arts, Judd Apatow, who approached Dunham after seeing her debut feature, Tiny Furniture, and ended up co-producing her new series with Jenni Konner.
If it's a hit, Girls will be the second female-centric comedy smash Apatow has produced within a year, which may seem odd for an entertainment executive/director who came into prominence with bromances, like Superbad, The 40 Year Old Virgin, and Pineapple Express.

I got bored of penises. I said, 'enough of that.' No, I just like immaturity, I like to show people struggle and try to figure out who they are. I'm a guy and so I leaned guy for a while. But one of the projects I'm most proud of is Freaks and Geeks, which is about a woman in high school struggling to figure out which group she wants to belong to, so for me, it goes back and forth.
Fair enough: Judd Apatow knows a good thing when he sees it. Maybe when he leans back to guy, though, the guy will like other guys? Wishful thinking? Perhaps. But girls can dream.
