Trailer Trash: Colin Farrell in 'Total Recall'

Totalrecallrotate

A remake of the Arnold classic

As you might, er, totally recall, in 1990, a pre-gubernatorial Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in an adaptation of a Philip K. Dick short story that came to be known as Total Recall. And while some of us remember the film mostly because of the three-breasted mutant who made a topless appearance, there's apparently more to the film than that, considering it's getting a remake.

Yes, Colin Farrell will star in this version, lending slightly less bulk to the role than Arnold did, but way more dastardly charm, we're sure, if past performances are any indication. Check out the trailer and our staff's thoughts on the reboot below.

Jerry Portwood: Yes. Yes. Yes. Especially to the return of Colin Farell (and his bare back). I loved the original despite the silliness of Schwarzenegger. A Philip K. Dick adaptation is never an easy thing, a remake even more fraught. But this looks just about right.

Mike Berlin: So the only thing they're giving us to distinguish between Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel is a ponytail and a British accent. This movie is already over my head.

Adam Rathe: As if I wouldn't already watch Kate Beckinsale do almost anything, I'm completely on board with Farrell replacing Arnold. Besides the fact that the dude doesn't age and can absolutely carry a movie (I stand by my love of Fright Night), he's got something rakish that makes for a more interesting action hero than another muscle monster.

Max Berlinger: 1. Bleached blonde is not a good look for John Cho. 2. This isn't a remake of "Star Wars," so why are there Star Troopers trying to beat up poor Colin? 3. Oh, hai, Jessica Biel. Where've you been lately?
