Ricky Martin is out to prove he's not just the '90s pop heartthrob so many lusted after when he swiveled those hips. He speaks to Jeremy Kinser for an exclusive interview and posed for a cover photo shoot for the April issue of The Advocate.

He's currently residing in New York City with his family as he rehearses and performs nightly as Che in previews of Evita on Broadway this month. The show officially premieres April 5.

"I get to feel many things. I can go from anger to love to uncertainty within 30 minutes of the show," he told The Advocate. "That's amazing because that's what my life has been about for the last three years--feeling. Not sabotaging any kind of emotions. Letting everything just come through me and verbalize it. It's a very spiritual exercise that I'll do every night."

Also in the story, Martin admits he hasn't read his autobiography since it was published, how much he enjoyed performing on the episode of Glee, and his activist role in combatting human trafficking. But a major part of the story is his commitment to his twin sons, Matteo and Valentino.

"Every decision I make and everything I do is based on their needs," Martin says about his sons, now age 3. "I don't want to sound cliche, but they teach me new things every day."

One off-color moment is when Martin alludes to his sperm's healthy DNA. "I ate a lot of protein," he says, laughing. "I don't know if that worked, but I was very healthy-eating and resting for a whole month before I got the cup."
