The shocking reports of Whitney Houston's death have been confirmed by publicist Kristen Foster who said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.

Sources tell TMZ that Houston died at the Beverly Hilton hotel. A police crime lab vehicle was seen outside the hotel just moments ago

Houston is one of the most successful female recording artists of all time and is survived by Bobbi Kristina, her 18-year-old daughter with ex-husband Bobby Brown.

Further details of her death have not been revealed but, as we all know, Houston has battled issues with drugs and extremely erratic behavior.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer was due to appear at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party Saturday night. The article quotes someone close to Davis as saying, "This is a sad day and it will be a sad Grammys weekend."

UPDATE:

According to TMZ: "Dionne Warwick and Cissy Houston spoke with Whitney Houston by phone just before she died and say Whitney seemed fine."
