Hi there. Maybe we've met before--maybe we haven't. In any case, my name is Max Berlinger and I'm the assistant editor here at Out Magazine. I stumbled across this video, entitled this is our year on Vimeo, thanks to Towleroad, and I thought I'd share it with you. It's basically a four-minute commercial documenting the mind-bogglingly adorable relationship of two dudes who happen to not only be attractive in a very guy-next-door sort of way, but they have charming accents (at least if you're American, they do). It's almost unreal how sweet this is--and as a single gay man who is about to tackle Christmas, my 29th birthday, and New Years in the next two weeks, I'm struggling to find the strength to be happy for these guys. Hey, they look really nice, and I'm sure they deserve each other and all the happiness in the world, but this video, with its Machiavellian use of folk music, and materializing hot on the heels of that gay marriage ad from Australia, kinda-sorta makes me want to curl up in a corner and cry (or find a bar that's open at 1 p.m. on a Monday--it's New York; they exist). But ignore me, the bitter Betty who's made this really lovely gesture into a pity party. Instead, check out the video below that sent me sprialing into an anxiety-ridden carb binge. I hope it doesn't do the same to you.
