Kellan Lutz Gets A Mohawk, We Get Critical

Out.com takes on the 'Twilight' star's new 'do

Maybe it was because the seizure-inducing birth scene in Breaking Dawn had been getting so much attention, or maybe it was a bid to compete with co-star and keeper of freaky follicles Robert Pattinson, but Twilight star Kellan Lutz has debuted a weird new hairstyle.

"Movember equals Mohawk month, right? Or was it mustache," Lutz tweeted Tuesday, making a reference to the Movember movement, which encourages guys to grow facial hair for November to draw attention to men's health issues and to look a little bit skeezier for the holidays.

"Out with the old and in with the new!" he wrote in a message bidding adieu to his longer and browner locks. "Goodbye dark hair. It's been fun."

But was getting the punky haircut the best move for the actor, who's spent years playing third fiddle to Pattinson and Taylor Lautner? Our office weighs in:

Mike Berlin: "Never before have I contemplated Brazilian waxes above the navel."

Max Berlinger: I'm all for a Mohawk when it's done well, but this is truly upsetting. It's so matted and dirty looking. And his facial pubes are looking very salt and pepper, no? But perhaps the worst part of this picture is the shower tiles in the bathroom. Was this taken in a Motel 6?

Sarah Olin: Why is he taking a 'self-portrait' in a bathroom stall and sending it to Us Weekly is the bigger question here.

William Van Meter: It actually looks pretty cool, but there is nothing worse then when a nerd who is into mainstream shit gets punk hair--like that Glee douchebag. So his iPod better be able to backup his new 'do.

Raef Harrison: This would only be acceptable he was in hot pursuit of the lead role in Beverly Hills Chihuahua II. He of course would be playing the bad boy Chihuahua with the heart of gold. But I still want to be his gay roommate!
