Patti LaBelle Is Going Back to Court: Singer Accused of Attacking Child

The Godmother of Soul is being accused of not having one after she allegedly hurled a water bottle at an 18-month-old.

Patti LaBelle could use a new attitude.

The legendary "Lady Marmalade" singer is being sued by a former neighbor for verbally abusing and attempting to attack the woman as well as, yes, hurling a water bottle at the woman's 18-month-old child.

The incident allegedly occurred when LaBelle was in New York starring in the Broadway musical Fela. She was living during that time in a Manhattan apartment building, the same building plaintiff Roseanna Monk and her toddler call home, according to Entertainment Weekly.

LaBelle supposedly became enraged when Monk, who was dealing with a pile of luggage, let her tyke roam free in the lobby. Harsh words were exchanged and the rumpus ended up the 67-year-old diva chucking her trash at Monk's offspring.

Monk claimed to be suing to make a point that just because LaBelle is a two-time Grammy winner doesn't mean that she can get away with such antics.

"Someone's got to teach her even a diva can't attack and frighten and assault regular people in the building," Monk's lawyer said in a statement.

Philadelphia native LaBelle is no stranger to battles, legal or otherwise. Earlier this year a West Point cadet sued the singer after her bodyguards allegedly roughed him up at a Houston airport.
