Gay Agenda: What You're Doing This Weekend

Mary-rot

Some queer-friendly events for the weekend.

After almost twenty years in the game, Mary J. Blige is still the unimpeachable Queen of Hip-Hop Soul. Not only can Blige take it to church, she has the hard-earned, gritty authenticity of a true diva (not to mention her outspoken support of the LGBT community). Blige will be performing her seminal 1994 album "My Life" in its entirety for the first time ever at San Francisco's Fox Theater tonight. Beg, borrow or steal some tickets because Blige is only playing this show three more times to promote the upcoming "My Life 2: The Journey Continues". Don't miss your chance to see Mary tear it up recreating one of the greatest albums of the 90's. Info here.

Occupy Wall Street has been making headlines in their crusade against corporate greed since the protest began in NYC two months ago, and it shows no signs of letting up. This Sunday a group of queer and trans artists and activists will be 'queering up' Occupy Wall St with the event Trans-Form the Occupation, a two-hour long trans awareness event featuring speakers from the trans community including activists Pauline Park, Gunner Scott, and the fabulous Justin Vivian Bond. The event will go from 4pm-6pm, in the SE corner of Liberty Plaza, concluding with a march on City Hall. Afterwards, catch Mx. Bond's new show Low Double Standards: An Evening of Cunning Covers at Joe's Pub, 9:30pm.
