Thomas Jane Was A Hustler, Babe

Art apparently imitates life over on the set of Hung, season 3 of which premeired last night on HBO. Thomas Jane who plays Ray, a down-and-out high school teacher and basketball coach who turns to the world's oldest profession in order to make extra cash, recently sat down with the LA Times to answer a few questions about the show's new season, and ended up coyly dropping a bombshell.

Jane has recently taken some flack for comments made about his character's career path, saying 'it would be the end of the show as soon as Ray ended up with a penis in his mouth'. He tells the Times:

I've always said that the year that Ray ends up with a penis in his mouth is the last year of the show. And I've said it jokingly. I think they took my comment... to be anti-gay. And then I got a chance to explain myself a little further, and I think people respected the explanation that I gave.

Jane does get to push Ray's corn-fed sexual boundries this season however, as the character takes on a transgendered client, which turned out to be "one of my favorite episodes of the year."

But the most tantilizing reveal of the interview? Thomas Jane actually knows what it's like to hustle for cash! He goes on to coyly explain his first experiences trying to make it as an actor in LA:

Hey, you grow up as an artist in a big city, as James Dean said, you're going to have one arm tied behind your back if you don't accept people's sexual flavors. You know, when I was a kid out here in L.A., I was homeless, I didn't have any money and I was living in my car. I was 18. I wasn't averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?

Oh, I really hope we do.
