Catching Up With Korallreven

It’s always summer in Sweden if you’re Korallreven, the electro-pop duo of Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäder.

This month Korallreven releases its debut album, the aptly titled An Album by Korallreven (Acephale), a collection of shimmering, islandy tracks featuring acoustic guitars, kettledrums, lush strings, and chipmunk vocals(!). Here, their favorite places in the capital city.

THE CAFE

ANDRA BONOR

Ringvagen 145

AndraBonor.se

"Down with global Starbucks-ification. Andra Bonor might be one of the tiniest cafes in Stockholm, but it's so worth a visit. Buy their chocolate with sea salt--all the profit goes to warm-hearted projects, such as saving the gorillas in the Congo or the last wild cocoa trees in Peru."

THE RESTAURANT

TRANAN

Karlbergsvagen 14

Tranan.se

"Once upon a time, a young Tupac Shakur performed in this dark cellar with Digital Underground. This was also where we did our very first DJ sets. The staff loves music as much as shaking cocktails, and the food (a mix between French and Swedish) is among the best in the city. Try the classic salt-cured salmon with dill-creamed potatoes."

SUMMER SWIMMING

REIMERSHOLME

"In summer, Stockholm doesn't get much more magical than Reimersholme. It's just five minutes on the subway from the central station, T-Centralen, to Hornstull.

CLUB

LANDET

LM Ericssons Vag 27

Landet.nu

"It doesn't have the best sound, but the upper floor is definitely Stockholm's coziest place for new, alternative, and often unheard-of pop music. The first floor's restaurant with fine Swedish ingredients (asparagus from Gotland!) is deadly good,, too."

ICE CREAM

Kungsholmens Glassfabrik

Pipersgatan 14

KungsholmensGlassfabrik.se

"Nothing (literally) freezes the time like when you go here for homemade ice cream. Then stroll along nearby Norr Malarstrand. It always ends in great ideas."
