Coming Out in Celebration of DADT Repeal
By Brent Ramsey
Men and women throughout the Armed Forces have been coming out in celebration of the first day of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" repeal -- a milestone in the movement for equal rights in America, months after same-sex marriage legalization in New York. Below, a gay airman, only known by his YouTube username AreYouSuprised, from Alabama celebrates this monumental time while serving overseas with a YouTube broadcast of his coming out to his father.
In this footage, the young soldier shares his fear, anxiety and excitement with the world. (And, yes, this momentarily broke my little, gay heart.)
