You guys. Sterogum just released Stroked, a 10th-anniversary-tribute album of the Strokes' iconic 2001 debut, Is This It? (The entire album is free to download.) To many, the album marks the birth of the bouncing, guitar-loop-driven "indie" rock that would come to dominate (and still does) a vast portion of our music landscape. The tribute album features tracks from such indie mainstays as Peter Bjorn and John, Real Estate, and the Morning Benders. But, for us, the standout track is Out-100 alum Owen Pallett's orchestral interpretation of "Hard To Explain." Click to listen:
