Today, while you were unjamming the photocopier or reading The Enquirer at the beach or buying a roll of Strawberry Mentos, a group of activists dressed like barbarians were busy paying Marcus Bachmann a visit. Bachmann, the "reparative therapy" practitioner who prescribes "praying away the gay away" to those suffering with homosexuality -- and who is also the husband of Congresswoman (and presidential hopeful) Michele Bachmann -- has stated in the past that gay people are "barbarians" in need of "education" and "discipline."
So, Nick Espinosa, now infamous for "glitter bombing" Newt Gingrich and his wife at a book signing earlier this year, and several other queer activists went asking for just that. The group descended upon the Minnesota-based clinic chanting "You can't pray away the gay -- baby, I was born this way!" and demanded to be speak with Bachmann himself so that they could be properly "disciplined." When Bachmann didn't appear the group dusted the clinic's waiting room in gold glitter.
"Michele and Marcus Bachmann think gay people are barbarians? I think its clear to everyone who the real barbarians are, based on the Bachmanns' archaic views on LGBT equality," Espinosa says. We say we wish we lived in Minneapolis and could have been along for the trip.
