Turns out, Kevin Bacon biting it big time isn't the best part of X Men: First Class. The film's scriptwriter, Zack Stentz, publicly confirmed (on Facebook, no less) that the plot's focus on civil rights and social misunderstanding wasn't just for mutants, but for the LGBT community as well. After someone posted on Facebook that the Marvel movie lacked greater subtexts or metaphors, the writer shot back with this:
"Um, no offense, but you're wrong. I helped write the movie, and can tell you the gay rights/post-holocaust Jewish identity/ civil rights allegory stuff was all put there on purpose."
This shouldn't come as a huge shocker. The X-Men have always served as a metaphor for misunderstood minorities, even back in their funnybook days in the 1960's.

Meanwhile, we're still left wondering if Hugh Jackman, as much as we love him, was completely miscast as Wolverine on purpose, or on accident.
