Look guys! It's Princess Diana, aged to 50 by Newsweek and Photoshop!
So this is in interesting tactic by Tina Brown and the mag staff: reimagining Di's live at 50, complete with an essay on her fashion and causes, and, our favorite, what her Facebook page might look like today:
-She is friends with "Jo Rowling."
-She has just been poked by "Nicolas Sarkozy."
-That incorrigible Sarah Ferguson has written on her wall! ("Hey Sloane Ranger! It's been so long!!! When are we getting drinks?????")
-Her newsfeed shows a recent friending of Camilla Parker Bowles with a certain Prince Charles "liking" it.
Ok, aside from how funny the Facebook page is, we find this, um, envisioning a bit odd. Not that anything particularly scandalous is being said about the princess in the within the pieces; they are all rather celebratory of her spirit, grace, and style. But could this type of feature catch on with less reputable publications? Will we be seeing a Photoshopped cover of an aged Brittany Murphy 15 years from now, walking down the sidewalk, latte in hand, chatting with Ashton Kutcher? And what of protecting a celebrity's image after they pass? The Diana cover is obviously flattering, but we can only imagine the ways in which OK! or Us Weekly might take certain liberties.
