Looks like the New York state of mind is heading north, as Maine is making moves toward legalizing gay marriage once more. The same Mainers who struck down their gay marriage law in 2009 are composing an application for a new bill with election officials. Fast-forward through 57,000 potential petition signatures, and gay marriage may have an official spot on the November 2012 ballot. In a bit of poetic justice, Matt McTighe from Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders says polls show that 53% of Mainers support gay marriage -- the exact same amount of voters who struck it down in '09.
