Helena Bonham Carter is Sick of Marc Jacobs
By Max Berlinger
As we mentioned last week, pictures of actress Helena Bonham Carter photographed by Juergen Teller and wearing a dress from Marc Jacobs' fall 2011 collection hit the internet, sparking rumors that the actress would be the latest in a long line of celebrities to star in his ad campaigns. While nothing was confirmed, Fashionista unearthed another picture of Carter, again in Fall 2011 Marc Jacobs, pretty much cementing it as fact. While the last leaked image as energetic and jovial, this one is absolutely brilliant in its exhuberant silliness. Critics adored Jacobs' use of classically couture silhouettes mixed with domanatrix and intergalactic references. The whole thing was twisted, insane and a prime example of Marc's ability to pluck a wide variety of bizarre, seeming incongruous, influences and mush them together and yield something that adds up to more more than the sum of its part.
Playing on another obsession that Marc indulged in this season was the liberal use of polka-dots -- from the clothes to the bags to the hats and even the nylon stockings were spotted with bespeckled abandon. In the latest picture, Carter sprts dot-frenzied jacket and hat ,carrying a furry bag with circular adornments -- but they take the polka-dot a step even further by having the two-time Academy Award nominee extending the sartorial spots to her face and hands, looking like a chicken-pock-ridden child.
Adorable, quirky, goofy, and all around amazing.
