Artist Scooter LaForge Releases His First Book at the Opening of "Queer From Zero to A Hundred"

Even though we've already had our fair share of sweltering days, the first official day of summer isn't until tomorrow, June 21st. In honor of the precious warm weather, and in celebration of Gay Pride Month and New York's pride parade this coming Sunday, the East Village's iconic Theater for the New City is launching it's latest show "Queer from Zero to a Hundred."

The exhibition will feature works from various artists, including one of our all-time faves, Scooter LaForge. LaForge's work, as you may know, draws on a huge range of influences ranging from abstract expressionism to Dutch classicism yet remains utterly original. His paintings are feral, colorful, beautiful and frightening all at once. To coincide with the show's opening, LaForge is releasing a book filled cover-to-cover with the contents of his vivid, untamed imagination. Amazingly, this is the first time ever that a full survey of his career has ever been published, so art-lovers rejoice! But great things don't come in large quantities, people, and this book is part of a limited edition run, so you'd better snatch one up before it sells out...forever. You can pick up a copy for a mere $60, or you can throw down $100 and walk away with one of LaForge's legendary t-shirts as well.

As for the art show, you're all invited to attend the opening -- yes, even you. The details are below. We can't think of a better way to show Mother Nature your appreciation for her bountiful summery gifts, can you?
