The Met Ball: Anna Wintour Decides to Not Break with Tradition and Wear Chanel

It's no secret that Anna Wintour loves herself some Chanel. It's practically her daily uniform, the classic tweed skirt-suit. And at Anna's yearly Met Gala, she almost always wears a special confection courtesy of Karl himself. This season, though, it was kind of assumed that since the exhibition honors the work of Alexander McQueen that Wintour would pull out one of her more conservative McQueen frocks from the closet and toss it on in honor of the man who served as inspiration for the show. But don't mess with Anna and her love of Chanel. Girlfriend showed up in a custom made glittering floor-length Chanel dress. Yes she looked stunning and yes she can do whatever she damn well pleases seeing as she's Anna Wintour, but doesn't it seem odd that as one of the honorary co-chairs she would wear a design from the designer's archives. But why break from tradition now, right?
