Nicola Formichetti on His Collaboration with Gilt Group

We had an inkling that stylist Nicola Formichetti was going places. So much so that the handsome lad landed a spot on our Hot List last year. Since that time Formichetti seems mere moments away from taking over the entire fashion universe. When he's not styling the hottest top-tier magazines editorials, working major campaigns like Uniqlo, or acting as creative director for the label Mugler, he still finds time to dream up the absolutely insane outfits that Lady Gaga continues to dazzle us with. As we mentioned the other day, Formichetti is now helping Gilt Group organize a two-day flash sale inspired by Gaga's style. This video from the Gilt Group team is a delight seeing as it finally pulls the tastemaker out from behind the scenes and focuses the attention directly on him and his visionary mind. Fashion geeks will fawn over this bounty of Formichetti trivia disclosed, from the fact that he speaks with a dreamy (although kind of muddy -- where is from, exactly?) accent, to his monthly 'round-the-world journey for work. He even reveals his true driving force: to create something fresh and never-before-seen, not to merely shock innocent bystanders, as it would seem. Plus, there's some great footage of him working on the Gilt Group shoot. We always adore seeing stylists at work.
