You might be wondering Who the hell is Rebecca Black? and I was, too, until I saw the 13 year old's video for her new single "Friday." Then I was thinking Um...? which quickly transformed into Um... WTF? when I learned that the clip has already received close to 12.5 million views in less than a week.
The song is catchy in an Ebola kind of way (aka there's a good chance blood and gray matter will start oozing out of your ears and nose and eye sockets and other assorted mucus membranes and you'll be powerless to stop it or click stop) and the video, apparently based on "a typical Friday for Black," is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've seen in a long, long time -- and I see a lot of stupid shit on a daily basis. Also: what's with three of the girls in the video (including Black) each having a huge zit on a different section of their face? Is the zit a metaphor for the painful, pus-filled menace that is the "Friday" video?
Check out the clip -- if only to say you know what everyone is talking about this week -- and then (desperately, futilely) try to get "Friday" out of your head.
