GQ Names Its Nominees for Best New Menswear Designers in America

The boy's version of Vogue (in the way that we think of ourselves as the gay version of Guns & Ammo -- kidding!), GQ, just announced their nominees for this year's Best New Menswear Designers in America. Drumroll, please:

Patrik Ervell(left, swoon)
Alexander Wang forT by Alexander Wang
Kirk Miller of Miller's Oath
Rick Klotz
Kand Joe Sadler, Derek Buse, and Greg Ullery the hotties behind Riviera Club
Michael Bastian for Gant by Michael Bastian (a label we covered back in October 2010, thankyouverymuch).

All the nominees will create a khaki look, top to bottom (hehehe) that will be sold exclusively at Bloomingdales. Why khaki, you may be asking yourself? Why none other than the kings of khaki themselves, Dockers, is sponsoring the awards. The winner will receive $50,000 and will be announced sometime during fashion week. Last year's winner, Billy Reid, has done quite well for himself, but this is a pretty diverse crowd. We love the simplicity of Patrik, and the modern take on collegiate prep that Michael has infused into the Gant label. Warriors of Radness is a beach-y roll in the sand and Riviera Club has some amazing pieces that just scream California cool! Alexander Wang, while a popular and of-the-moment designer (just don't ask Cathy Horyn about that one) but really? T by Alexander Wang? It's a great secondary line and all, but its just sleeveless t-shirts and sweats with funky stitching -- if that. No denying that Wang is a hot name in fashion, but they really couldn't have found someone with a little more gusto? Regardless, congratulations to the nominees and let the betting begin!
