Google is in the Fashion Game Now

You'd better believe that when a company as all-powerful and far reaching as Google decides they want to open up an e-commerce site, its going to be a titan. And it is. The web-company that controls the world, and most definitely the internet, has unveiled Boutiques.com, their answer to the online shopping duldrums. Culling products from all over the web, the shop allows for an incredibly spot-on search function, finding you exactly what your looking for from a huge range of brands -- and a prices from high to low. There are also ancillary "boutiques" that are organized to help you emulate the style of your favorite actors, fashion bloggers, stores, or shop by a certain trend. The selection they have is pretty amazing, and there are also editorial aspects that elevate the site from other, more stagnant, shopping sites. All in all, its an enormous undertaking, but it seems like it could be just the sort of re-tooling that could establish Google (of all places) as being the re-inventor of the shopping wheel. Hey, even Cathy Horyn liked it. The only problem? It's exclusively for girls.
