If anyone's still clinging to hateful gay stereotypes, their time's almost up. Photographer Molly Landreth and videographer Amelia Tovey spent the last four years creating multimedia portraits of the endlessly diverse LGBTQ community. In 2011, the pair will launch Embodiment: A Portrait of Queer Life in America as a gallery installation and website.
As of now, the project lives at its Wordpress blog, where supports can follow the creators' journey and progress. In their future home, the portraits will continue to roll out as an ongoing documentation of the country's queer citizens based on themes such as love, race, class and gender identity.
Until recently, Landreth and Tovey were financing the project themselves, but in an effort to finalize the website creation they've enlisted the help of pledge donations. Each portrait costs about $2,000 to create, so the more help, the better. If NPR or Save the Whales haven't already drained your bank account, consider pitching in to further this project.
