The Emery Awards

Anything that has anything to do with Wendy Williams is something that we're interested in, to be sure. So when we heard that Ms. Williams and her fabulous weave of the day will be hosting this year's annual Emery Awards, we were definitely stoked. The Emery Awards, for you uncouth readers who don't know, are given to folks who have shown exemplary leadership skills in the GLBTQ community. The awards is given by the advocacy group the Hetrick-Martin Institution, who has a history of supporting and assisting the gay youth community. Honestly, this year it seems more important than ever to have role models for the for young gay people. In light of the recent string of suicides and the reemergence of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' in the media, it's no wonder that they are struggling with their identities. OK, we'll get off our soap box now.

This years honorees are Glee creator Ryan Murphy, Arianna Huffington of The Huffington Post and fashion designer Marc Ecko.

In addition to the awards, there will be an auction hosted by another gem, Ms. Bethenny Frankel (so you know some Skinny Girl margaritas will be involved).

If you want to get involved, which you should, you can reach out to Cory Crayn at 212-674-2600 x.234 or ccrayn@hmi.org.
