But perhaps most exciting (at least for me) is a veiled reference to her then-still-just-a-porny-dream Sex book, which Meisel shot and which I still worship (there's a copy with a bent cover in my closet that I found on eBay for $80 bucks. I had to wait until I got to college to buy it so my parents wouldn't know or intercept it in the mailbox before I got it in my hot little hands).
Madonna writes,"I would still love to do this book thing with you so let's talk soon," and then signs the note "love, Dita" -- the pseudonym she took for the Sex book / Erotic album project. What I wouldn't give to have back the Madonna who pumped gas naked and made out with Isabella Rossellini and unapologetically shocked the world with her pro-sex manifestos. If you're out there, Dita, it's time to come home.
