If singer-songwriter Sarah Blasko's popularity in her native Australia -- where she regularly finds herself in the Top 10 and her latest album, As Day Follows Night, won her Best Female Artist at the 2009 ARIA Awards -- is any indication of how Americans will soon feel about her, she's in for a lot of new fans.
She dropped by the Out studio last week to chat about finding inspiration in bygone eras, being encouraged to get personal by taking a cue from Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, and attempting to make uplifting songs -- even if they're comprised of dark subject matter:
