The "Fearless" Photography of Jeff Sheng

With international Pride celebrations and the World Cup colliding in an explosion of gayness, athletics, and partying, my mind turned to the "Fearless" photography exhibit by Jeff Sheng.

"Fearless" is a series of photographs of LGBT high school and college athletes, begun in 2003, which explores the phenomenon of homophobia in sports. Sheng, a Harvard graduate, professional photographer, and educator, traversed the United States, meeting and shooting a diverse mix of young athletes. The project is ongoing, so you can submit yourself as a candidate to be photographed, or invite the exhibit to your college campus. ("Fearless" was displayed at the 2010 Winter Olympic in Vancouver). Or, as I will, you can call Jeff to try and get the phone number of one of the good-looking athletes (who're most likely over 18 by now)!
