If you answered "a square filled with squares," you're either straight, or unusually slow-witted for a gay. If you answered "a square filled with rectangles," you're a credit to your sexuality's newly-proven quick-wittedness, plus your gaydar is working just fine.
Dutch scientists have just released a study showing that gays are way more attuned to noticing fine detail than straight folks. And the results prove, they say, that gays' supposed sixth sense in spotting other (perhaps closeted) gays, is way more acute than their straight peers.
The tests saw 42 men and women shown pictures of small shapes inside bigger shapes, and, like the question we fired at you, the volunteers were asked what they saw. Heteros answered faster and less accurately than gays. In short, gays look at the bigger and smaller pictures.
Says researcher Dr Lorenza Colzato, from the Netherlands' Leiden University: "This is the first time that scientific proof has been found for the existence of a gaydar mechanism amongst homosexuals. This perceptual skill allows homosexuals to recognise other gay people faster and we think it's because they are much more analytic than heterosexuals."
The conclusion is, such extra-sharp perception allows gays to pick up on like-oriented strangers very quickly, which is both a social and sexual advantage.
