Mika Gets "Kick-Ass"

Mika, our favorite Freddie Mercury-falsetto blaring Brit is back with his latest song, "Kick-Ass," (produced by Gaga collaborator RedOne) from the upcoming superhero movie of the same name. Looking like a disheveled Clark Kent after a mugging in an alleyway (or a long night out on the town), Mika sings his heart out on a song that would've fit in quite nicely on his sophomore effort, last year's The Boy Who Knew Too Much.

Based on the comic series of the same name, Kick-Ass, is about a teenage boy (played by cutie Aaron Johnson) who is inspired by his favorite comic superheroes to suit up and fight crime. After a few unsuccessful attempts, he gains fame, and eventually encounters other masked vigilantes and villains. The series is known for its satire of the superhero genre, and incorporates many nods to comic geeks and readers. The film's director, Matthew Vaughn (who also directed the film version of Neil Gaiman's Stardust), personally asked Mika to contribute to the soundtrack, and the end product is a very catchy number that ends with a rousing chorus that Mika literally belts from the rooftops. Though Mika may look like Clark Kent in the video, he unfortunately does not transform into Superman, which is a shame because I'm sure I'm not the only one who has dreamed of witnessing Mika undressing in a phone booth.

Kick-Ass opens in theatres on April 16th.
