Ultimate X Reveals Wolverine's Twinkie Son

Love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine but wish he was more Bel Ami twink than hairy daddy? Well, you're in luck with Marvel Comics's newest X-Men title, Ultimate X, which set in the Ultimate Universe, tells the story of Wolverine's son, Jimmy, the all-star blond high school hunk who finds out he is the most famous X-Men's son. Since this series is set in an alternative universe, the writer Jeph Loeb (one of the most popular comic writers who is also a producer and writer for Smallville, Lost, and Heroes) has free reign to tell a brand new story of a mutant offspring.

The first issue (out last week) tells the story of Jimmy, your popular high school student with model-looks, leading your run-of-the-mill rebellious teenage life, when Kitty Pryde visits him one day. She reveals to him that he is adopted and that is birth father is Logan (aka: Wolverine). Jimmy's miraculous healing ability is explained, along with the claws that are now jutting out from between his knuckles. The issue is very Smallville meets X-Men, as Wolverine appears to him in hologram form, ala Jor-El, Superman's father, when Clark learns his true identity.

This series could be a lot of fun since it's rare to see an X-Man in a high school environment, and thanks to Loeb, the writing is smart and fun. Now, the story is all well and good, but you should really pick up the book for the eye candy. Jimmy is the blond Wolverine with six-pack abs and sexuality dripping off his claws. While most X-Men books are loaded with mutant babes with laughable breasts, it's nice for a guy to be the object of desire for once, since Jimmy is shirtless for pretty much the entire issue. Whether the gratuitous show of skin wil last in the coming issues is anyone's guess, but let's just hope this mutie joins the high school swim team.

Ultimate X #1 is out now.
