Face to Face: Raven O

There's little that Raven O hasn't done. Raised in Hawaii, he spent his early days studying everything from classical ballet to traditional Hula, using his talents to get gigs in musical theater, dance concerts, and even as a stripper in a female strip club. Raven moved to New York City at 18 and quickly became a fixture in the punk and post-punk scenes. He toured as a singer with Sylvain Sylvain of The New York Dolls. He was first a go-go boy at the notorious Limelight and a Cat Club dancer. Before landing his gig at The Box -- where he completed a two and a half year run performing and emceeing -- and now at Quo, Raven spent three years in Las Vegas as one of the stars of the Cirque de Soleil show Zumanity.

Known as "the entertainer the famous come to see," Raven has performed for and befriended everyone from Jude Law to Lindsay Lohan to Kate Moss to Simon Cowell -- even serving as emcee for the American Idol judge's 50th birthday celebration last year. Now he's bringing his one man show, Raven O: One Night With You, to the Bleecker St. Theatre. The autobiographical musical combines Raven's signature voice and stage presence with his edgy comedy to tell the story of his unbelievable life on and off stage.

We caught up with Raven to chat about his new show, his equal opportunity approach to sex and sexuality, and life on stage:

Raven O: One Night With You plays Tuesday, February 23 and Tuesday March 2 at the Bleecker St. Theatre, 45 Bleecker Street, NYC, 212-260-8250. For more info and to purchase tickets to the show, click here. For more info on Raven O, click here.
