We can't get enough of Our Lady J -- the singing-songwriting sensation who blows us away everytime she opens her mouth to sing her haunting original songs or her stunning renditions of tracks by everyone from Nine Inch Nails to Dolly Parton.
J, who began transitioning several years ago with the help of hormones, is now preparing to take the next step in her process -- getting herself some tits. And not just any tits -- Park Avenue tits. Because health insurance doesn't cover boob jobs, and because Park Avenue tits don't come cheap, J is taking to the stage twice on December 16 (7:00 pm and 9:00 pm) at the Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street, between Avenue A and B in NYC) for Boob Aid: All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Tits. J will be joined by a slew of brag-worthy friends -- including Jake Shears, Taylor Mac, Natalie Joy Johnson, Murray Hill, Lady Rizo, The World Famous Bob, Novice Theory, Bianca Leigh, Daniel Isengart, Glenn Marla and Nadia Sirota, with a set of ten plaindromic phrases (B-O-O-B) and variations composed especially for the evening by renowned composer Nico Muhly -- all of whom will be singing their favorite songs about, you guessed it, boobs in hopes of raising enough money to get the musician her top surgery.
In addition to the benefit concerts, J will also be holding a special auction on Ebay beginning December 10 featuring items from Dolly Parton, Lady Gaga, Roise O'Donnell, Margaret Cho, Tori Amos and others.
We caught up with J -- her new purple hair making her look like one of Jem's smokin' hot Holograms -- to chat about the inspiration for Boob Aid, why she decided to get top surgery, and what we can expect at the shows:
For more info about Boob Aid and to find out more about the auction, head to OurLadyJ.com.
To purchase tickets to either Boob Aid show ($50 for VIP which includes unlimited access to the open bar or $25 for general admission), head here or call 212.228.1195.
