Quickies: Holograms, Drag Queens, and Other Illusions

> Last week the official poster for Tom Ford's A Single Man was released, prompting The Advocate to remark that it manages to make the most notable gay movie of the year look, well, not very gay at all. Over the weekend a second trailer was released (the original hit the web in September) which adds a few review quotes and omits any gay kissing. Go figure.

> Hasbro is poking a stick at one of the few nostalgic pop culture stones left unturned by the recent flurry of remakes, revisions, and sequels -- it's resuscitated the licensing rights to Jem and the Holograms! At the moment no one has any idea exactly what this means -- there might be plans for either a movie or a TV series which may or may not have a High School Musical scriptwriter and/or the director of something amazing and bizarre looking called The Secret of the Magic Gourd attached. But we already know that Samantha Newark, voice of the original Jem, is ready for her comeback!

> Hold onto your hairpieces... L Word producer Larry Kennar and Project Runway's Jack Mackenroth have teamed up to work on a TV extravaganza called The Queens of Drag: NYC. Filming begins this month on the show, which features "the ageless and evergreen Hedda Lettuce, uber-glam Sherry Vine, the hilarious Bianca Del Rio, drag superstar and extremely controversial Kevin Aviance, sexpot songstress Pepper Mint and the classless and campy Mimi Imfurst." Oh, and the one and only Lady Bunny lording over them all, of course.
