Mondays with Morrissey

Proving once again that there's no one more Morrissey than Morrissey, the British king of self-loathe and animal-love spoke to BBC Radio 4's Kirsty Young about the honorableness of suicide ("It's an act of great control, and I understand people who do it"); why going to bed is the highlight of everybody's day (because sleep is "the brother of death"); the luxury items he'd bring to a desert island (a bed; a bag of sleeping pills); and the songs and books he'd pack for the trip (The Velvet Underground's "The Black Angel's Death Song" and The Complete Oscar Wilde.) In other news, when he's not pondering the great beyond Morrissey is working on designing a line of non-leather footwear with fellow-vegetarian Stella McCartney.
