> Sean Penn's Got Milk
Following his powerful acceptance speech after winning Best Actor for Milk at last week's Academy Awards ceremony, Sean Penn is now pressuring Arnold Schwarzenegger to declare Harvey Milk's birthday, May 22, as Harvey Milk Day in California. Last year the Governator vetoed such a bill, claiming it should be celebrated only in San Fran. Following the passage of Prop 8, however, of which Schwarzenegger was outspokenly critical, the political climate is dramatically different in Cali. Will Arnold change his mind to put out a message to the masses?
> Prop 8
And speaking of Prop 8, the California Supreme Court is convening this week to determine the legality of the measure. The court decided last year that that type of discrimination was unlawful, but there's still a deep feeling of suspense as California's gays' legitimacy as citizens hangs in the balance. Will justice be borne out? Or will the LCD prevail?
> A Friend of Craig
An Illinois sheriff has filed a federal lawsuit against Craigslist, claiming it is the "single largest source of prostitution in the nation." Funny, I've seen the odd ad for "massage," but all the guys I've had via Craig have given it up for free....
> Logo Saves Sarah Silverman
Gay fave Sarah Silverman's sitcom (The Sarah Silverman Program, of course) was almost a goner this week, because Comedy Central planned to cut the budget by 20 percent. Sarah and two of her exec producers didn't think they'd be able to maintain the show's quality at that price, and when Comedy Central wasn't willing to budge it was gays to save the day as Logo swooped in to make up the difference. So Steve and Brian can continue smoking out in peace!
