She's terrorized legions of celebrities in her one-woman shows and via her Bravo reality TV series My Life on the D-list, and now Kathy Griffin will wrestle her snarky brand of gossipy humor into the pages of a memoir. According to MonstersandCritics.com, the comedienne has scored a deal to write her first (and presumably not last) autobiographical account of being a fiery outsider trying to make it in the big bad world of A-list stars.
The New York Observer claims Griffin's literary agent at Endeavor, former Dutton editor-in-chief Trena Keating, sold it at auction last week to an editor at Random House's Ballantine imprint for more than $2 million. The book is sure to have plenty of juicy, embarrassing secrets about acting like a baffoon in front of Hollywood's creme de la creme, the lowdown on her once heated affair with plastic surgery, and more dirt on encounters with all our favorite (or perhaps not-so-favorite) gay (or presumably gay) stars like Anderson Cooper and Clay Aiken.
But when you're selling out theatres around the country, winning Emmys, and getting paid $2 million to write a book (scratch that -- to do ANYTHING) can you really still rightfully claim D-list status? We're dubious.
