Tamra Barney, Orange County housewife best known for her delinquent children and absurd attempts at making her rivals in beauty "naked wasted," disregarded the cameras on last night's season finale. Huddled amongst her girlfriends drowning in Roberto Cavalli floral prints and cork wedges, Tamra forgot her microphone could detect whispers and exposed her homophobic mindset. Noticing Joe and Slade
(Real Housewives of Orange County veterans) from across the veranda, she blurted, "He looks so homo."
Her attempt to amend her mistake was quickly overshadowed by the art of reality TV show editing.
While Slade fulfills the metrosexual cliche on the West Coast, Simon van Kempen (pictured above) is his East Coast doppelganger. Complete with lime colored three-piece suits and an accent that wavers between French and English, Simon is the source of much debate amongst gay and straight audiences alike.
Last season Alex McCord (pictured above) interrupted a midday conversation with Bethenny Frankel stating, "Wait hold on, I'm just getting a text from husband about whether he should wear light or dark boots." In response, Bethenny replied, "OMG, tell him that he's having a deep-seated homosexual crisis and he should just go with his instinct." What a difference a coast makes.
While Tamra's gay-oriented comment was fueled by hate and confusion, Bethenny's response was met with laughter and agreement that could only be followed by a champagne cocktail at Pastis. There has yet to be a backlash against the Northern Californian who describes herself as "the hottest housewife in Orange County," yet the upcoming Bravo reunion, hosted by perfectly-groomed-Bravo-gay-in-residence Andy Cohen, will hopefully spotlight her blunder. As for Bethenny and her entourage of New York fag hags? As long as "gay boyfriend" remains in their day-to-day lingo, they can do no wrong.
