While an Arrested Development
movie seems like one of those distant dreams that's just too good to be true, like a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Movie or Frost/Bush, our dreams may actually come true if Jeffrey Tambor has anything to say about it. Tambor, who played George Bluth, Development's jailed patriarch, told The New York Daily News recently that an Arrested Development movie will happen this year despite rumors of Michael Cera's (above) reticence.
"If I have to call him up and say, 'Get on set right now, young man,' he'll be there...The movie is going to happen this year, and Michael Cera is on board. Trust me," stated Tambor, obviously confident in his paternal control over Cera. Cera has yet to make a statement confirming or denying Tambor's statement but we do know that all other cast members have signed on for the film. Prior to Tambor's remarks Cera was chatting with MTV at Sundance about his new movie Paper Moon and the discussion inevitably turned to the development of Development. "There's no script or anything, so the movie I think is more hypothetical than people think," said Cera. He also joked, "I'd possibly play the part. I'd possibly put the script in my shredder
...I'm enjoying being the villain." But ultimately, Cera is "very interested to see what the story
is with [the film]."
Perhaps Cera does not realize that Tambor put this movie on his chore list but if that's what it takes to get this movie off the ground we encourage Tambor to grab Cera by the ear and turn him over his knee.
