Madonna For Louis Vuitton

Behold, a few photos of Madonna's ad campaign for Louis Vuitton. From WWD, here's how Marc Jacobs came up with the idea in the brainstorm meeting:

"I just blurted out, 'I think we should do Madonna,'" said the designer, Vuitton's creative director, mentioning he'd attended a concert by the pop icon the night before in Paris. "I was totally just blown away by it, and moved by her performance, by what she had to say, and her energy." As the meeting went on, Jacobs tapped out a message to Madonna on his BlackBerry, and within about five minutes came the reply: "I'd love to."

She's such a good sport. Here's what we like about it:

> The leg in the air. Hot.

> The heels. Even hotter.

> That the fishnets (hers, by the way) were her idea.

> The smoky set/color palette. It's like Morocco meets the 1930s meets the wild wild West.

> The appropriate usage of LV's spring feathered look. Not nearly as jarring as that green business she wore the Gucci party last week. And that speaks to the styling of the photo as well -- no extras, no craziness. Just her with the bag, the jewelry and the setting. It's cohesive and classic but it also pops.

And what don't we like about it? That we can only ogle Madge en foto, desperately wishing we were as fabulous as she. Le sigh.
