The Council of Fashion Designers of American met yesterday to decide which designers would join their elite ranks of the fashion fabulous. Among those deemed worthy were a few award winners from this year's CFDA awards, like Michael Bastian (nominated for Emerging Menswear Designer), and Band of Outsiders designer Scott Sternberg (won the Emerging Menswear Category). Diane von Furstenberg was also re-elected as president, and naturally so if she can recognize the talents of Bastian and BOO. Bravo, my dear! [The Cut]

I have to keep myself from gagging every time I see the infomercial for those cringe-inducing PedEggs--you know, basically a cheese grater for the callous skin accumulating on the bottom of your foot? I can only imagine what that stuff smells like as you dump it into the trash bin. But, to my certain surprise, Simon Doonan uses one and claims they are quite effective (he even uses a second for, yup, a cheese grater). It practically saved his dignity on a glitteratti trip to Capri. [NYO]

While Debbie is taking a break, Hedi Slimane is doing Dallas in style. It's not often your Stylist gets the itch to travel south to the Lone Star state (blame this not on northeastern pretension, but a southern state v. state rivalry), but I'm about a click away from buying a plane ticket to see his photography show at the Light & Sie gallery, where he will actually be in person today. His immortal aura might be too much for me to handle, but if any of you are close enough to get to him, take advantage. [The Cut]

As reported earlier, uber-hottie Garrett Neff is battling Beckham's briefs for Calvin Klein's new underwear ad campaign, and there's a shot that didn't make the cut because it's too racy. Here's that shot. And oh what a shot it is...[Haute Concept]

Giorgio Armani designed a costume for bullfighter Cayetano Rivera Ordonez for the Corrida Goyesca consisting of a "techno satin jacket, trousers and cloak in Armani's iconic greige [all] embroidered with sequins and small glitter stones." The bulls are trying, really trying, not to snicker. [WWD]

Dennis Leary will be the president of Fashion Rocks this year. Makes total sense...I guess. [British Vogue]

Summer is more than half way over and the New York Times brings us the breaking news that--gasp!--shorts are chic. Better late than never I suppose. [NYT]

Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher are in a spat over who should deserve credit for starting the trucker hat trend. The fact that they are both willing to admit they want credit for said trend proves the otherworldly level of their douchbagedness. [British Vogue]

A few years ago purple was a power color; now it's become nothing but neutral--which is a good thing amidst the media coverage of the presidential election. [NYT]
